A passenger from Gurugram has shared a traumatic account of his experience on an IndiGo flight, warning others about the potential risks of deboarding ramps. Ratnendu Ray, who flew from Chennai to Delhi on August 14, described how he shattered his ankle while exiting the plane, recounting his ordeal in a series of posts.

Rainy Morning Mishap at Delhi’s T2
Ray detailed that his early morning IndiGo flight landed at Delhi’s Terminal 2, where passengers were required to use a ramp instead of an aerobridge—a common practice, according to him. Unfortunately, the weather exacerbated the situation.

“It was raining that morning, and the ramp was damp and dimly lit,” he explained. “Halfway down the ramp, my right foot slipped on a moist patch, causing me to twist my ankle and fall.”

A Life-Altering Injury
The fall left Ray in unbearable pain, and he immediately realized the severity of his injury. “My ankle was either broken or dislocated—the foot was completely bent, and the pain was excruciating,” he shared.

Another passenger helped Ray down the ramp, and he later posted a photo of his swollen foot, showing a visibly dislocated bone, to emphasize the seriousness of the incident.

Ray’s experience highlights potential safety concerns with deboarding procedures, particularly during inclement weather. His story serves as a cautionary tale for passengers and a call to airlines to ensure safer alternatives for disembarkation.
