Son Arrested for Gruesome Murder of South Delhi Family on Parents' Wedding Anniversary

New Delhi: In a shocking turn of events, the South Delhi Police have solved the triple murder case of a couple and their 23-year-old daughter in Neb Sarai within hours. The accused: the couple’s 20-year-old son, Arjun, a second-year Bachelor of Arts student at Delhi University.

Arjun, who initially claimed to be out on a morning walk, alerted both the police and his uncle about the killings. However, investigators soon uncovered the chilling truth: Arjun allegedly murdered his family in their sleep, driven by resentment over being “humiliated” by his father and learning that the family property would be left to his sister.

Gruesome Discovery

The victims—Rajesh Kumar, 51, Komal, 46, and their daughter Kavita, 23—were found stabbed in the throat at their home. The couple had been celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary the night before. Arjun told neighbors he went for a walk after wishing his parents a happy anniversary, only to return and “discover” their bodies.

CCTV Evidence and Inconsistencies
CCTV footage revealed no external intrusions, and there were no signs of forced entry or theft. Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Jain said Arjun’s statements were inconsistent, prompting further investigation. Under interrogation, Arjun confessed to the premeditated murders.

Motive: Resentment and Property Dispute

Arjun, a trained boxer who represented Delhi at national events, had been harboring anger against his father, an ex-serviceman. The elder Kumar frequently scolded and disciplined him, sometimes in front of neighbors, leaving Arjun feeling humiliated and isolated.

The breaking point came when Arjun discovered his father intended to leave the family property to his sister. Driven by rage, he meticulously planned the murders, choosing his parents’ wedding anniversary to carry out the crime. To create an alibi, he staged a morning walk.

Community in Shock

The family’s neighbors are devastated. “It’s unimaginable,” said Anjali, a close neighbor. “Just yesterday, the mother and daughter were laughing on the terrace.” Another neighbor, Himani, expressed disbelief at the tragedy, describing the victims as kind and approachable.

Political Reactions: AAP Blames Centre

Before the case was solved, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi criticized the central government for failing to ensure safety in the capital. She pointed to rising crime rates, while AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal echoed her sentiments, highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation.

“This triple murder is horrifying. Criminals operate freely, and innocent lives are lost daily,” Kejriwal posted on X (formerly Twitter).
